My Yoga Journey

Socrates admonished one to know thy self. To know oneself is to know one’s body, mind, and soul. Yoga, I often say, is like music. The rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind, and the harmony of the soul create the symphony of life. The Inward Journey will allow you to explore and to integrate each of those aspects of your being.
— BKS Iyengar, Light On Life

Having demonstrated a natural ability for movement from an early age, I began practicing yoga over 10 years ago while training as a dancer in New York. What started as an exercise to help advance the strength, flexibility and vitality necessary for other physical activities slowly evolved into the underlying component of a holistic healthy lifestyle centered around principles of mindfulness.

In the summer of 2014, I set out to complete my 200-Hour yoga teacher training at YogaWorks in NYC.  Forever a student, I continued my yoga studies at the Iyengar Yoga Center of the Lehigh Valley (IYCLV) with Holly Walck Kostura. In June of 2017, I completed my first year of Iyengar Yoga Teacher Education at the IYCLV. When my journey brings me back to teaching I hope to become a Certified Iyengar Yoga instructor.

During my four years as a teacher, I aimed to share the benefits of yoga with my community and my students. In each of my classes, I aimed to foster an encouraging learning environment where all students felt welcomed yet challenged. It is a privilege to play a part in each student's yoga journey. To watch students progress from one class to the next as stronger and more confident individuals is the greatest reward of teaching.
